Birthday Week

Tomorrow is my mom's birthday & I am behind in my stamping & scrapping for my upcoming events & classes. So I turned to my group of swaps from Leadership & Regional to find a wonderful birthday card for her. Simple a task right? Except there were so many wonderful birthday cards that I had to let the kids pick which ones we will give her. Since there were so many I decided I would make this birthday week & share them with you. Now I won't be telling you which ones are the winners because what if she stopped by. This week is also one of my downline member's birthday so a BIG Happy Birthday Shout out to Sheilla. So enjoy birthday card week, where I will be featuring 2 birthday cards a day for most of this week. Then (hopefully) all weekend I hope to be showing you some sneak peeks from my upcoming Scrapbook in a Day Event. The theme is Springtime/Easter. June's Scrapbook in a Day theme will be summertime. I can't wait. (smile)

This first card I got at Leadership in January. It was designed by fellow Demonstrator Mary Rodgers from Rochester, NY. It uses Fast & Fabulous (Level 1 Hostess) & Perfect Punches stamp sets. The card base color is perfect plum. She stamped the flower images in perfect plum & always artichoke on the very vanilla cardstock. Punched a piece of always artichoke cardstock wit the dotted scallop ribbon punch, glued it to the very vanilla piece & then ran it through the Big Shot with the square lattice embossing folder. It's hard to see from this picture but in the center of all of the flowers she added a bit of dazzling diamonds glitter with a two way glue pen. The words are stamped in always artichoke ink & punched out with the large oval punch. She also sponged around the edge of the oval with always artichoke ink. Then added a folded piece of always artichoke seam binding ribbon & added it to the card with some dimensionals. Isn't it beautiful?

This next birthday card I got as a swap at the Regional Event that I attended earlier this month in Minneapolis. It was designed by Michelle Waletzko. It uses the stamp sets Elements of Style & Bring on the Cake. The base of the card is rich razzelberry cardstock. Then she took a piece of whisper white cardstock, rounded the corners with the corner rounder punch & stamped the flowers image in rich razzelberry ink. A piece of rich razzelberry cardstock was run through the Big Shot with the vintage wallpaper embossing folder, had the bottom corners rounded & a piece of whisper white organza ribbon tied around it & was glued at the bottom of the whisper white piece. She stamped the words with rich razzelberry ink on another piece of whisper white cardstock & punched them out with the decorative label punch, stuck it on the card with dimensionals & that's it. Super simple but absolutely beautiful.

Cake YUMMMM!

One of my favorite stamp sets from the Occasions Mini is Bring on the Cake. In fact I like it so much that it is one of the stamp sets that I am using for my April class on Saturday April 16th. Check out my classes page for more information. In fact this first card is one of the 6 that we will be making that day.

The base of the card is early espresso. Then for the next layer you take certainly celery & glue assorted circle punched pieces of rich razzelberry, tempting turquoise, daffodil delight & pumpkin pie onto it. Then trim where the circles hang off the base piece. Take it & run it through the Big Shot machine with the square lattice embossing folder. The stamp the cake image in early espresso on whisper white cardstock, punch with the 2 1/2" circle punch & color. Mine is colored with a blender pen & ink. The glue it to a rich razzleberry 2 3/8" scallop circle & attach it to the circle piece with dimensionals.

This second card is a great male card. I always have a hard time with cards for men. The base of this card is basic black that has been run through the Big Shot with the tulip embossing folder. The next layer is pacific point cardstock. To make the next layer take a piece of 1st Edition Designer Paper, crumple it up then lightly sponge it across the top. The next layer is basic black cardstock that has been punched with the decorative label punch. The big wish stamp is done with basic black ink on very vanilla cardstock.

Bliss Everywhere!

This weekend is a weekend of Bliss. We don't have much scheduled which is pretty rare for a weekend in this house. I am hoping to get some stamping & scrapping done. Along with the laundry & some house cleaning. The weather is not supposed to be that great so I think I will just stay home & dream of somewhere warm. So to kick this Saturday off here are a couple of cards that you the awesome stamp set Bliss from the Sale-A-Bration catalog. Don't forget we are down to 1 month left of Sale-A-Bration 2011. Make sure you have got all of your favorites from the catalog. They will never be in another Stampin' Up catalog after this.

This first card is a rich razzleberry cardstock base. The second layer is early espresso. The next layer is very vanilla with the stamp in early espresso ink. The swirl & the butterflies are done in rich razzleberry. The swirl is made with the swirly sizzlits decorative strip die & just trimmed to fit once is is glued on the card. Then the butterflies are made with the beautiful wings embosslits die. Both dies work with our wonderful Big Shot machine. Then the frame around the words is early espresso and is actually from the stamp set baby blossoms from the occasions mini stamp set. You stamp the framed image & cut around it. Then flip it over so that the imaged side is actually down. Then the center is punched out with our large oval punch. The words are stamped with rich razzleberry ink & glued behind the frame. Then the frame is attached to the card with dimensionals.

Isn't this Bliss card just beautiful. It really makes me think Spring...although maybe I just am trying to wish Spring here. (smile). The base of the card is baja breeze, that has been edged on the one side with the scallop punch.The middle section layers are early espresso, crumb cake & very vanilla. The very vanilla piece of cardstock was stamped with early espresso ink using all the images from the stamp set Bliss. Then it is run through the Big Shot using the square lattice embossing folder. Then the top was sponged with baja breeze & the bottom with crumb cake. Then the word was also stamped on very vanilla with early espresso ink. It was also sponged with the same colors. It is glued on crumb cake cardstock that has been punched with the curly label punch. It is popped up over the piece of early espresso 1/8" taffeta ribbon with dimensionals.

Ready for Spring!

I am so ready for Spring to be here. I keep telling myself that it will be here before we know it. I mean really it's almost March. March can you believe it. I know me either. This week has been so insane. Last Thursday my daughter Kayla came home with what turned out to be strep throat & a really bad viral cold. She finally returned to school yesterday. On Wednesday my little guy Robert came home from preschool with a temp of 103.5. Then all day yesterday it kept spiking to around 105. That does not make a mom happy (or Robert for that fact). Well we spent 6 hours in the ER last night & low & behold Robert has a small case of pneumonia. Not that you can tell since he got up. He is running around playing & watching his beloved Backyardagains. This does make mom happy. So I am trying to get caught up on some work...starting with my blog. So how about some spring stamping?

This first card is perfect for St Patrick's Day & the IRISH in me just loves it.

It uses my favorite Sale-A-Bration stamp set, So Happy for You. The base of the card is certainly celery. The next layer is old olive cardstock & play date designer paper. The words & the shamrocks are stamped with old olive ink on whisper white cardstock. The ribbon is old olive satin ribbon.

I hope you have a great weekend. Our is pretty low scheduled. Just lots of play practice as we get ready for our daughter Alexis to be in our high school presentation of Phantom of the Opera.

So Excited!

I am so excited & let me tell you I needed a bit of excitement this week. Our house has been hit by some real nastiness. My daughter Kayla came home early from school last Thursday not feeling well, I took her to the doctor on friday & on monday we found out she had strep throat plus a nasty viral cold. She spent most of the weekend asleep and is still home from school for hopefully the final day. Plus our little guy Robert, my husband & I have all got the nasty cold too. My husband is doing some training this week at work but in another facility & it is totally throwing our schedule off. So I am ready for the weekend. But when I got up this morning & saw my email I was so excited. I won a FREE pass to the wonderful Dawn Rapsas' website UStamp with Dawn & Friends. I have heard so many wonderful things about this site & I can't wait to check it all out. I am sure I will be inspired by so many things. So make sure you check it out. New favs out of the Big Catalog

Isn't it crazy that with the current Idea Book & Catalog being out since last August that I am still finding things in it that I am falling in love with. One of which I would have never noticed the stamp that is used.

The first one uses the tree out of the Forest Friends stamp set. Which can be one of your FREE items during Sale-A-Bration.

When you look at this adorable stamp set, you really do not notice the tree because the animals are so cute. Plus I love the color combination for this card, early espresso, cherry cobbler, tempting turquoise & very vanilla. The thank you words are from the curly cute stamp set. Just love the font of those stamps.

The second card uses a stampin' around wheel called take a sip. Plus the ala carte image tiny teacup.

You could also use many images out of the stamp set that matches the wheel, morning cup. Just love these items. I actually don't know how I didn't notice them before now. The tiny teacup can also be one of your FREE Sale-A-Bration items.

Cool Sale-A-Brations & another Mom moment

So our weekend was just nutty. My oldest daughter Kayla has been sick since Thursday. I took her to the doctor on Friday. I was sure she had strep throat. But the rapid test came back negative. But I just knew that is what she had. So low & behold they called this afternoon and the test they sent to the lab was positive. So now we have to wait 24 hours of her being on the antibiotic before she is no longer contagious. Life is nothing if not "fun" around here. My other daughter Alexis has a few different parts in our high school's upcoming play "Phantom of the Opera." She is also quite the artist & drew this awesome picture.

They are actually going to put it on the front of the playbill. Super proud mom moment there. (smile)

Now onto some stamping...That's why you stopped by right?

I love these cards that were made at the Regional I attended in Minneapolis. The 2 stamp sets that are used to make them are create a cupcake & so happy for you (sale-a-bration set). The basket is one of the cupcake liners from the create a cupcake, as is the bow on the basket. The cards are made in pretty in pink, tempting turquoise, old olive, daffodil delight & real red. Take a spin!

This card is one of the ones that we will be making at my Take A Blossom for a Spin class on Saturday April 2 at 10 AM. Registration is open for this class & ends on Monday March 21st at 5 PM or when all seats are filled, whichever comes first.

This bright card was designed by my new friend & demonstrator plus fellow Illinoisan Pam Hodges. It is so bright. I love the wonderful colors. It also includes items for our Party Hearty stamp set. Just love it. Thanks Pam for the great swap.

Classes & Events Scheduled

Happy Friday to you all! I wanted to let you know that my schedule is up for my events & classes through the middle of May. Spring!!!

I am so ready for Spring to be here. We have had some "decent" weather this week in Central Illinois. By "decent" I mean not below freezing during the day & no snow. So to help wish Spring in here are a couple of cards using the wonderful stamp set Easter Blossoms. Which we will be using at my Sprintime/Easter Themed Scrapbook in a Day Event. Are you registered? This first card uses 2 of my favorite colors. Concord Crush & Daffodil Delight. Just perfect for Easter. I can't believe how late Easter is this year. Hopefully that will give me a chance to get Easter projects all done....we will see. : ) The girl was stamped using whisper white staz on ink. Then all of the white accents were colored with the white gel ink pen. Just love it!

This cute card may turn into cards for my 2 beautiful girls. They are pink & purple lovers. Alexis' loves purple best then pink & Kayla is the other way around. Doesn't it just scream girly girl and NO BODY is more girly girl than my daughter Kayla. The great color combo on this card is the wonderful concord crush, pretty in pink & whisper white. Love Love it. The tulip embossing folder was used on this card...isn't it everywhere. It is one of my favorites & that is hard to say because I love all of the embossing folders.

Some Upcoming Favorites

Ok so yesterday I said that Stampin' Up had given me two containers of the wonderful champagne glass glitter & that I was going to have to figure out what to use it on...well it didn't take me long. I have been trying to decide on a class that uses our clear storage cases for more than just holding our clear stamp sets. I've seen so many neat things done with them. So one of my May (yes I said May) class is going to be on the clear cases. I haven't got the details all worked out yet (mostly because I am still working on April's classes). But be on the lookout before the end of the month. These first pictures will be the main focus of that class.

They are monogram note cards with matching envelopes in a decorated clear cases. Aren't they just BEAUTIFUL? And wasn't it nice of the creator to make them in the initial "K" just like they were making them for me. At the class that I am planning you will also get 5 other uses for the clear cases. I can't wait.

Today's other project will be appearing in one of my April classes that focuses on the stamp set Bring On the Cake. It was one of my biggest favorites of the day at Regional.

I know I know...

I know Valentine's Day is over. But I had just a couple more things for Valentine's Day that I wanted to share from this past weekend's regional. I hope that your Valentine's Day was a great one & that you got to spend it with the ones that you love.

The first thing I am going to share today is this cute cute Xs & Os banner.

It uses the awesome Love Letters designer paper & tons of ribbon & embellishments. Wouldn't this banner be a great decorative item that you could pull out year after year.

This next project is a neat way to give your valentine some yummy candy.

This treat card uses the Sweetheart stamp sets & the awesome heart treat cups. The tab at the top actually is in between 2 layers of the real red cardstock, so you can pull that piece out to get to the candy without destroying the whole card. The wonderful color combination is real red, whisper white & tempting turquoise. The words on the tab are from the stamp set teeny tiny wishes.

The last project for the day uses the new petal cone die for the Big Shot machine. Found the occasions mini catalog. I will be sharing a few projects this week using the petal cone die. Just love it.

I know the picture is not that great. It was made by someone doing a WOW workshop moment at Regional. Tons of other people were taking pictures at the same time & I thought it would be rude to turn it around for a picture from the other side as they were taking pictures. : ) So I will point out some of the great things used to make this cute gift holder. The cardstock for the base is rose red. The flower was made using the great new blossom petal punch. The petals have been embossed with the vintage wallpaper embossing folder & sprayed with smooch spray. The little scallop border above the flower is done with the ribbon border punch. Both the border & the flower are made out of pink pirouette cardstock. The ribbon on the back is very vanilla seam binding. The glitter is the champagne glass glitter. I will definitely be making a project using the champagne glass glitter because I got one FREE at Leadership & Regional. So they obviously are trying to tell me something. (smile)

Happy Valentine's Day

What a weekend! I left friday morning with 2 of my wonderful team members (BIG shout out to Sheilla & Crystal) on a 8 1/2 hour trek to Minneapolis Minnesota. On Saturday we attended a Stampin' Up Regional Conference & man was it great. We had the best time. Although I can't say I have ever been to a Stampin' Up Event & not had a great time. (smile) So after driving home the 8 1/2 hours on Saturday night & getting home just a little after 1:30 AM, I was pretty beat yesterday. All I could accomplish was unpacking my suitcase & getting some laundry going. So today will start a week (at least) of sharing awesome things from that Regional. Plus this week (I promise) I will have my full class schedule out through at least the end of April.

Now on to the stamping...that is why you stopped by right? (smile) This first card is far from perfect but it is my little guy Robert's valentines for his party this morning.

I got the idea from somebody else...I just can't remember who...sorry. The card is whisper white cardstock that I ran through the Big Shot with the tulip border embossing folder. I took the big heart punch and punched out 2 real red cardstock hearts & 2 real red glitter paper hearts to form the butterfly wings. The words are from the teeny tiny wishes stamp set & they are stamped in real red (Robert "helped" with this). I glued the wings down using the anywhere glue stick & next attached the smarties with glue dots. Just love it. Plus it was simple enough a 4 year old could "help".

This next project was done at regional by our very own Shelli Gardner, CEO & Co-Founder of Stampin' Up. She said they were her Valentine's Day gifts for her kids. It is an insert for our chunky frame.

Isn't it absolutely beautiful. There are so many products & layers on here that I don't think I can even begin to list everything. So I will just try to list some of my favorites. On the crumb cake base layer, it has been run through the Big Shot with the polka dot embossing folder & sprayed with smooch spritz spray. She cut the old olive seam binding ribbon in half to make it's width smaller for her bow. On the chantilly lace ribbon she cut off the very bottom to shabby up the bottom & the sides. She used 2 of my favorite embellishments, antique brads & the key trinkets. Just love the whole thing. Wouldn't that be a great gift for someone to display year after year. So while we are on the subject of Shelli. Here is a picture of myself & team members with her on Saturday.

Last 3 Buttons

Today I am going to be sharing with you the last 3 cards from my Button Button Event on Saturday February 19th. The thing I like best about all three of these cards is that you could put any sentiment on them.

This adorable card was designed by Donna Schneidtmiller. You can check out her blog by clicking Here. She is a wonderful lady just full of talent & ideas. So this wonderful card uses my favorite color, Crumb Cake along with Marina Mist. The stamp sets are the Button Button stamp set, then the words come from Short & Sweet stamp set. But really you could use any words. The ink color is also Marina Mist. The hole for the ribbon was done with the crop-a-dile (such a wonderful tool). The ribbon is Marina Mist 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, tied with a bit of hemp twine. Then on one of the small button stamps is a button from the itty bitty buttons collection. Around the outside of the large piece of crumb cake she sponged a bit of the Marina Mist ink. Just love it. Thanks Donna for sharing your talents.

This next card was designed by fellow demonstrator & new friend Isis Pinero (she was inspired by Krista Fenton). As you can see she used the New Baby words from the Fundamental Phrases stamp set, but again you really could use any words. Then she used assorted buttons from the Button Button stamp set & 5 different colors of ink to make the design on whisper white cardstock. She used Daffodil Delight, Baja Breeze,Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip & Cajun Craze. The base of the card is Marina Mist cardstock. She took a piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock & ran it through the Big Shot machine with the polka dot embossing folder (just love embossing folders). Then she punched a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the designer label punch & tucked it behind the Daffodil Delight cardstock. Just slightly peeking out. Next the words were punched out with the modern label punch & a piece of Marina Mist taffeta ribbon was attached with a button brad from the vintage trinkets collection. That was then attached to the card with 2 dimensionals.

This last card was designed by Becky Morris. The only colors used on the card are concord crush & whisper white. Two of the buttons are punched out with the 1" & 3/4" circle punches & popped up on dimmensionals. Otherwise all of the other buttons are stamped directly onto the whisper white cardstock. A piece of Concord Crush striped ribbon is tied around the whisper white cardstock. Then the words were punched out with the large oval & adhered to a piece of Concord Crush that has been punched out with the scallop oval punch.

Another Crazy Week!

So it's another crazy week in store for the Bettenhausen Household. Play practice for my daughter Alexis is really ramping up as we are under a month away until Dunlap High School Present's Phantom of the Opera. She is getting super excited (as are we all). But boy will I be glad when it is over. It's just a lot on top of her already crazy dance schedule...oh yeah plus school. : ) I am getting ready to head north...well northwest. To Minneapolis Minnesota on Friday & Saturday. I will be attending a Stampin' Up Regional. I can't wait to see some of my new friends from Leadership & get even more wonderful ideas. Plus for 2 of my team members it will be their 1st ever Stampin' Up event. Fun girl time. I just love it.
Ok now for some stamping.

This card just makes me think spring. Now maybe it is the pretty flowers, maybe I am sick of cold & snow...I would say probably both. This card uses two of the awesome sets that you can choose from out of the Sale-A-Bration catalog for every $50 in product that you purchase. They are So Happy for You & Sweet Summer. See just the name makes you think of warm weather. Wouldn't that be a great card to send to a friend so that they know you are thinking of them.

This next picture is from the Momento Mall area at Leadership. Momento Mall is exactly what it sounds like. It is a shopping area of products that are available just by attending leadership. Now some times those items that are left over after the event are put up on the Demonstrator Website for purchase. So for those of you that love my purse & wallet, let me know & I can be on the lookout to see if they appear for purchase.

This adorable chicken wire frame was in a few different colors around the store but this one was my favorite. It probably is the pretty pink pirouette color. Let alone the adorable cards that are attached to it. Just love it.

A Postcard & Thoughts for a friend

For this snowy Super Bowl Sunday I am going to be sharing A Valentine's Day Postcard plus a card sending out thoughts to a friend.

The Valentine's Day Postcard was designed by Trevis Bossaller, a demonstrator that I swapped with at Leadership.

The vintage look is done in a different way then I had done before, she took Stampin' Up's stipple brush and dabbed crumb cake ink onto the very vanilla cardstock around where she had stamped the "Postcard" words from the Winter Post stamp set. The designer paper is from the awesome love letters pack. Then she stamped the Be My Valentine stamp twice on 2 different pieces of very vanilla cardstock. Once in riding hood red & once in crumb cake. Both got cut out but the crumb cake one only the banner part was used. Using a couple of dimensionals she attached it on top of the riding hood red heart. Then put a few pearls on it to accent the flower pattern. Just love it. It was one of my favorite swaps.

The next card I saw as I was going through some of the pictures I had taken at Leadership & it made me think of my friend Jennifer. Her family lost their beloved dog Gracie last week, very unexpectedly. So this card is for her.

This card was posted up on one of the share boards at Leadership so I do not know who was the designer of this wonderful card. It uses friends fur-ever stamp set. That includes the dog, the bone, & the heart. The words are from the curly cute stamp set. The colors are real red, basic black & whisper white. Part of the base of the card is embossed with the polka dot embossing folder. Just love that cute little dog.

What a Week!

So the kids went back to school today. None of our teenagers wanted to get up & our 4 year old Robert didn't want to go to bed last night. : ) I am so excited today...not because the kids went back to school but because 1 week from today myself & 2 of my awesome downline members are headed to Minneapolis Minnesota to go to a Stampin' Up Regional Event. Not as big as Leadership was but still a ton of fun. What is even more fun is that it will be the first Stampin' Up Event either of these ladies have ever gone to...What fun!

I decided to show you more of my swaps. Yes these are some that I used at Leadership. They are the same ones that I am using at Regional...sorry to anyone that might have swapped with me at Leadership & does at Regional. Both these cards were a huge hit the 2nd morning at Leadership. I kept saying it was because everybody needed some caffeine & chocolate to get us going.

This card uses one of my favorite color combos (I say that a lot don't I & they are not all the same...oops), early espresso, crumb cake, very vanilla & real red. The stamp set is Morning Cup. Just love it. I actually assembled it to make this card & another one for Leadership. Super duper simple.

That was the caffeine & here is the chocolate.

This card looks simple but took too much time (ok well too much when you are making 24 of them). Same color scheme as above just without the real red. I took both the crumb cake & rounded the corners with the corner rounder punch. Cut the early espresso piece with the top note die & the big shot machine. Then ran them both through the Big Shot with the vintage wallpaper embossing folder. The early espresso piece I cut the outside dotted edge of the top note off so that I could get the decorative label punch in the middle. I then stamped the so much chocolate so little time (from the Eat Chocolate stamp set) twice on 2 different pieces of very vanilla. I cut one chocolate bar out, painted the ends with silver fox smooch ink to make it look like the hershey bars of old that were wrapped in aluminum type paper. I put the cut out chocolate bar on top of the other one with a dimensional. YUM!
