Bat & Candy Everywhere

At my house we are getting ready for Halloween with a Bang! My youngest Robert had his week to take treats to preschool this week. I planned that on purpose because I wanted to use the fantastic candy wrapper die in the Holiday mini to make his treats for today to share during their Halloween party. But my youngest daughter Alexis is turning 16 next Wednesday & we are having her sweet 16 party this Sunday on Halloween. So I had to make candy wrappers for the party too. (I am also working on favor bags & decorating the napkins but that will be in a post this weekend). So here are how Robert's candy wrappers went together.

First I started by punching out two bats. One out of basic black cardstock & one out of basic black waffle paper. My advice is to punch these to papers at the same time. Otherwise the punch has a habit of getting caught up in the waffle paper.

Then I cut all of the candy wrappers out of whisper white paper. I did this with the candy wrapper die (out of the Holiday Mini) run through the Big Shot machine. After I glued it together using TomBow glue (this is the fastest drying glue Stampin' Up sells) I wrapped the middle with a strip of Nite Owl Designer Paper.

Then I punched a 1 3/8" circle out of daffodil delight cardstock, glued the 2 bats together & glued them onto the circle. Then the "moon" is put on the strip of designer paper with a dimensional.

Then I closed up one side of the candy wrapper with Raven 1/2" lace trim (out of the Holiday Mini) & basic black taffeta ribbon.











Once all of the candy wrappers were assembled & had 1 end tied. I filled them with M&Ms.

Once I filled them then I closed the other end up the same way.

Here they are all filled, stacked & ready to fly to Robert's preschool. Here are the ones that I made for my Daughter Alexis' party.

They are made only with Nite Owl Designer Series paper, no cardstock. They were closed up with the same ribbon. The trick to the fold on these candy wrappers is to make sure that you work every single fold line with your bone folder. This will make assembly MUCH easier.
On a personal note, Tonight we are off to New Lenox, Illinois for Dunlap to take on Lincoln-Way West for the 1st round of high school football playoffs. Let's Go Eagles! We finished the regular season 7 - 2 so I believe we have a good shot at tonight's game. We are up against a much bigger school but I am sure our boys will hand tough. We finished another year of Marching Band last Saturday. I am super proud of how hard the kids worked this year. Here is a picture of my oldest 3 kids at the competition 2 weeks ago at the University of Illinois. This is a very rare picture when you get all 3 of them together without some sort of bribery.

Jeffrey (my oldest by 10 minutes) is on the left, with Alexis in the middle & Jeff's twin, Kayla on the right. Hopefully next week I will post a picture of my youngest in is costume for Halloween.

The Final Christmas Card Design!

Here it is...the final Christmas Card Design for my Christmas Card Event. Don't forget that registration ends this Sunday (October 24th) for this great Event. If you haven't yet signed up & still want to make sure you let me know ASAP.

This card is made with the stamp set Bells & Boughs. Which is currently part of Stampin' Up's Holiday Bundle Promotion with the designer series paper, Deck the Halls, that is used on this card. Then the whisper white card stock is embossed with plenty a petals embossing folder. The ribbon is always artichoke seam binding. The bells are stamped in Always Artichoke ink & punched out with 1 3/8" circle punch. Then glued to a 1 3/4" cherry cobbler circle punch.
We also will be making a cute gift bag as part of my Holiday Gift Event with this set & Designer Paper. Be on the lookout next week for a picture of it.

The 4th Christmas Card Design

I just absolutely love this stamp set, Got Treats. It pairs up perfectly with our milk carton die too. This card looks so complex but isn't. Those are my favorites. It is all about the layering. This is one of my current favorite color combinations. Cherry Cobbler, Early Espress & Crumb Cake. The gingerbread cookie & the words are stamped on whisper white with early espresso ink. Just love it. Be on the look out toward the end of the week for the final card for my event. Now off to get some paper cut for my event this Saturday. It will be a HOOT of a time.

The next Christmas Card Design

Happy Tuesday Everybody! Yesterday was such a Monday in our house. The kids were home from school but had so much homework to do after our crazy weekend. Plus they still had activities to do plus household chores to catch up on. Now everything is back to it's regularly scheduled craziness. So I had a chance this morning to get my next Christmas Card Design uploaded.

It is an incredibly simple card. The base is confetti white which has been embossed with the snowflake embossing folder from the new holiday mini. Then stamped with the words Merry Christmas in Real Red ink. Christmas Time!

Boy I am just all over the Holidays this week. Here is a short post to show you the next addition to my Christmas Card Event. The winner from my previous cards is the Peace on Earth Card with the glass glitter & the candy cane material. I am pretty sure that I like this card not colored but sometimes I have problems with overly simple cards. I always think "I must add more" and sometimes you just don't.

So the weekend is upon us so I don't think I will have anything else to post over the weekend. Football game tonight. It is our final home game & it's Senior Night. I am saddened to think that next year I will have two seniors...where does the time go? Then tomorrow morning I will be seeing some of you at A Card for Every Season & after that we are off to another Marching Band Competition. Sunday the girls are having some pictures take...I might even share of few next week. The kids are off of school on Monday so trying to run some errands with them. Hopefully on Monday I will at least post a couple of cards from tomorrow's group event. Have a Great Weekend! Go EAGLES!

Flowers are Springing Up Everywhere!

Don't I wish! I am much more a warm weather gal. I am so thankful for this extra warm streak of weather that we are having this week. Where I love the change of seasons I just don't love every season. I like snow but only when I don't have to go out in it. But anyway, on to the project. I watched a great video on fellow Stampin' Up demonstrator Dawn Griffith's blog making these fantastic flowers. They are nowhere near as difficult as they look. This is an up close picture of one of the flowers. I used the designer series paper pack that is a level one hostess option. Then the center of the flower is the coordinating cardstock, poppy parade in this picture. Then I used champagne colored glimmer brads.

These 2 are poppy parade & peach parfait. Then here is how they looked on the bags that I will be giving to my customers that are coming this Saturday to A Card for Every Season. That way they have something pretty to carry their completed cards in.

I am going to be doing one for myself to hold all of my prepacked cards in. But I am going to decorate it with Halloween designer paper. I will add the picture of it when it is completed.

This Week!!!

Oh my is this week flying by in a flash. In honor of our group event "A Card for Every Season" here is my card for this great event. For those of you coming, we will see you on Saturday morning. I am not sure how bright eyed I will be with football the night before but at least we are at home. For those of you that were not able to sign up I will post a few other cards this week.

The Build a Bears, I just can't seem to stay away from them. At the end of the month this little guy & his girlfriend will be climbing on board some candy wrappers for my youngest son's class & my youngest daughter's 16th Birthday party. Be on the look out for those pictures. The cardstock base is tangerine tango. The front has been sent through the Big Shot with the web embossing folders. I just love the embossing folders. I hope we come out with more more more. The black strip is basic black waffle paper. The scallop oval is peach parfait. The words, the bear & all his accessories are stamped in basic black on whisper white. Then colored & cut out. The words are punched with the large oval punch. The bear is popped up with some dimensionals. This little guy is just beary sweet.

Continuing with the Christmas Theme

Here are the next two cards that I promised you using the Peaceful Seasons Level 2 Hostess Set.

The first card is made similar to yesterday's cards. The images are from the Peaceful Seasons stamp set but this time I used the Season's Greetings words & the hollyberry leaves. The cardstock base is always artichoke & the images are stamped on very vanilla. The material in these cards is the Deck the Halls material in the Holiday mini. The buttons are matching buttons from the mini.

In this card I used cherry cobbler as the base, didn't tear the cardstock & choose buttons that stuck out more. This card is my second runner up to the similar one yesterday. I am having a hard time picking my favorite. The funny thing is that usually I like torn cards & this time neither of my favorites are the torn cards. Go figure. : ) My problem is really that I can pick between the glass glitter & the buttons. I love love love them both. All comments would be appreciated. One of them has to be the winner.
I hope you all are having a wonderful Sunday. We are unfortunetly headed out of town for a family funeral. So I probably will not have any posts for the next couple of days since I will have limited access to the internet. But look towards the middle of the week when I will post cards from a Card for Every Season.

It's Beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Ok well not Christmas yet but fall is definitely upon us here in the Midwest. Warm days & cool nights. Sometimes cool days & cool nights. You just never know what you are going to get. Definitely fall in our house. After a great football game last night we are on our way to a marching band competition about an hour away that all 3 of our older kids are participating in. But in our house I have been getting to work on everything that I have going stampin' wise through the end of the year. Make sure you get signed up for all of you favorites as soon as possible. Coming up next Saturday is our group "A Card for Every Season". Look for pictures of some of those cards coming toward the end of this next week. Then the next event that I am hosting is the Owl 101 punch class on October 24th. Where we will be making 16 - 3" x 3" cards all with a different theme focused around using the new Owl 2 step punch. If you are not signed up yet for this class...hurry up...the deadline is October 12th. Then on November 6th I will be hosting my yearly Christmas Card Event. That brings us to today's pictures.

Both of these cards are made with 2 images from the Peaceful Seasons Level 2 Hostess Set. This first one is garden green cardstock as the base. With part of the candy cane christmas material used to look like ribbon. Then the words are stamped in real red & the earth ornaments in garden green.

This card is made using the same images but the real red cardstock is used as the base. I stamped the images in the same colors but I didn't tear the cardstock at the bottom. Then I added silver glass glitter along the bottom after I glued the material on the back. This card so far is my favorite. Tomorrow I will post two more cards using different images out of the Peaceful Seasons stamp set with different colored cardstock and different accessories. Let me know which one or ones are your favorite. One of these great cards will be 1 of my designs for my Christmas Card Event.

A Spooky Invite

My daughter Alexis will turn 16 on November 3rd but she was due on Halloween. I am so glad she was not born that day. Just a little too spooky to have that as your birthday. We started talking about her 16th birthday party &  looked at the two weekends that are around her birthday. Of course the fact that Halloween was the Sunday before just made it seem like a natural. Plus that way I will feed them then set them loose on the neighborhood. Sorry to my neighbors. Earlier in the year I had made some treat bags for a fund raising event that everyone just loved. Made with the tutorial from fellow demonstrator Gretchen Barron found Here. The favorite from the Halloween gang was the Mummy. So I am in the process of making 15 of these cards. Then we will be making some of the Halloween gang as treat bags to go in each guests spot on the table.

I did have to change a little bit of the instructions for him since the color he was originally sponged with is retired. So he is sponged with Crumb Cake. Then I just added a couple of gold eyelets to finish the card off. Then inside we will put all the spooky party information. Alexis is super excited...now if she just had some free time to help make these guys.
Over the weekend I will be posting 4 of the cards that I have made this week. They all use the Peaceful Season Level 2 Hostess Set out of the Holiday Mini & 1 of them will be 1 of the 5 designs for my Christmas Card Event. I am just having a hard time picking which one. Now it is off to get ready for the weekend. My son has an away football game tonight that is about an hour away & all my teenagers are at a Marching Band Competition on Saturday that is about an hour in the opposite directions. Lots of driving this weekend. Let's Go EAGLES!
